Single post vs twin post
Single post (single plunger) vs twin post (double piston)
Three of the five machines in this range run on a single plunger: the 1 tonne, 4 tonne and 8 tonne single post. Two run on twin posts sharing one long platform: the 8 tonne twin post and the 16 tonne twin post.
A single post gives you one bore and a shorter platform — enough for a three wheeler, car, van or double cab. A twin post gives you two bores under a longer platform, built for long wheelbase vehicles, buses, tippers and prime movers that a single platform can’t span. Between the two 8 tonne machines specifically, capacity is identical — platform length and vehicle class decide which one you need, not tonnage.

This is an in-ground washing lift, not a surface 2-post service lift
Every machine on this page is an in-ground, plunger-type hydraulic washing lift — the cylinder sits below the floor in a prepared pit, and the platform finishes flush with the bay floor once installed. That’s a different machine from the surface-mounted 2-post service lift used for general repair and servicing work, which sits entirely above floor level on two visible columns.
If you searched for a 2-post service lift, this isn’t it — we don’t sell that machine. What we sell is built for vehicle washing, undercarriage access and detailing, not general workshop servicing.
Installation
What the pit needs
All five washing lifts in this range are in-ground, air-over-oil hydraulic hoists — the plunger housing sits below floor level in a prepared pit, and the platform finishes flush with your bay floor once installed. The standard lifting height across the range is 1500 mm, with 1700 mm available to order.
Exact pit depth, civil work and drainage requirements are specific to each model and are confirmed on-site before installation — tell us your bay dimensions and vehicle types and we’ll confirm pit requirements as part of the quote.

Frequently asked questions
Washing lift or washing jack? The same machine, two names
Washing lift is the term used across this site and in current supplier catalogues. Washing jack is an older name for the same in-ground hydraulic hoist, still used by some workshops and mechanics. Ask for either name — we sell the same machine.
Do you sell surface-mounted 2-post service lifts?
No. Every washing lift here is an in-ground, plunger-type hydraulic hoist that sits below floor level and finishes flush with the bay floor — not the surface-mounted 2-post service lift used for general vehicle servicing. If that's what you need, this isn't the machine for it.
How do I choose between the 8 ton single post and 8 ton twin post?
Both machines are rated at 8 tonnes. The single post has one plunger and a 5500 x 820 mm platform, suited to vans, light lorries, double cabs and 4x4s. The twin post has two plungers sharing a longer 7200 x 820 mm platform, suited to long wheelbase vehicles, buses and mid lorries. Platform length is the deciding factor, not capacity.
What is the standard lifting height?
1500 mm across the whole range, with 1700 mm available to order on any model.
What compressed air supply do these washing lifts need?
It varies by model: 9-12 kg/cm2 for the 1 ton, 4 ton and 8 ton twin post, 10-15 kg/cm2 for the 8 ton single post, and 12-15 kg/cm2 for the 16 ton. Confirm this against your compressor before ordering — our own compressors top out at 12 kg/cm2, which doesn't cover the top end of every model here.
